American Revamps Frequent Flyer Program; Adds One Way Tickets and More Flexibility
Monday, May 11, 2009 6:47:34 PM

American Airlines has introduced a new feature of its Aadvantage frequent flyer program called "One-Way Flex Awards."

For the first time, AAdvantage members will be able to redeem miles for one way flights. The one way awards will require half the number of miles as a round trip flight. Passengers can also combine multiple one way awards in order to fly on a multi-city itinerary, as business travelers frequently do.

By adding one way award levels, American is also enabling customers to combine different kinds of awards -- for instance, flying out in first class, but returning in coach.

"Our One-Way Flex feature takes frequent flyer award travel to a whole new level by offering customers unprecedented options and flexibility," said Rob Friedman, president of AAdvantage Marketing Programs.
