Swine Flu Claims the Life of Popular Castro Bar Owner
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 5:01:22 PM

The owner of a popular bar in San Francisco's Castro district lost his life to the Swine Flu.

Doug Murphy, co-owner of Moby Dick and Blackbird, died last Friday from complications from the H1N1 virus, according to SFist.

"Hello my dearest friends, it is with a heavy heart that I share with you that our dear friend and business partner, Doug Murphy has passed away," business partner Shawn Vergara posted. "Come by, have a shot of Jager and a Bud Light to Doug. We miss him dearly."

The 41-year-old had not been traveling overseas. He was in Palm Springs when he was infected with the virus, according to SFist.

Information about a memorial service is still pending.
