When do I pay for my rental car?

In most cases, you are not required to pay for your rental car until you pick it up.

Bear in mind, this means that the driver of the car must have a credit card in his or her name and must present that card to the rental agency prior to driving off with the car. It also means that an individual generally cannot "purchase" a rental car for somebody else by prepaying it, as one can do with an airline ticket.

In rare instances, a credit card guarantee or deposit will be required in order to reserve a car. When this is the case, we will alert you during the reservation process and ask you to provide a card. When making reservations that require a credit card upfront, please carefully review the rules because a penalty might apply for changes or cancellations.
