Air Canada

Carry-On Allowance: 1 Bag + 1 Personal Item

Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items. All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:

  • Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 21.5in x 15.5in x 9in/55cm x 40cm x 23cm (length x width x height)
  • Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 22lb/10kg
  • Maximum Dimensions of Personal Item: 17in x 13in x 6in/43cm x 33cm x 16cm (length x width x height)
  • Maximum Weight of Personal Item: 22lb/10kg

Checked Baggage Allowance

Passengers traveling within North America in economy class with Tango, Tango Plus fares:

  • Baggage Allowance: 1 piece*
  • Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight: 50 lb/23 kg
  • *Passengers will be charged a $25 CAD/USD fee for a second checked bag.

Passengers traveling internationally in economy class or with Latitiude fares:

  • Baggage Allowance: 2 pieces
  • Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight: 50 lb/23 kg
  • *Star Alliance Gold Members are allowed three checked bags, as long as they meet the above requirements.

Passengers traveling in executive class and executive first:

  • Baggage Allowance: 3 pieces
  • Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg, as long as the total weight of all three bags does not to exceed 150lb/69kg

Air Canada Super Elite and Elite passengers traveling in any class of service to any destination:

  • Baggage Allowance: 4 pieces
  • Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg, as long as the total weight of all four bags not to exceed 200lb/92kg

Excess, Overweight, Oversize Baggage Fees

If you have more bags than the permitted allowance or your bags exceed the weight or linear restrictions, you will be charged additional fees. Contact Air Canada directly, or visit their Excess Baggage Information Page for information.

Sports Equipment

Some checked items, such as surfboards and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee because of size, fragility, or other handling requirements. This fee is $50 CAD/USD. All articles must be less than 109 linear inches/277cm (length + width + height) and no longer than 80in/203cm.
